Tips for Buying a Cell Phone Battery
As we all know there are hundreds of brands of cell phones. Even within the same brand, like LG or Nokia, there are hundreds of different types of cell phones made. Because each phone is so unique by offering different features and having different looks, cell phone batteries are very different from each other. A small phone uses a small battery with different dimensions than a large phone would. Therefore, there is no such thing as a “one size fits all” type of mobile phone battery.
There are a few tips a buyer can follow to make sure they get the right kind of battery that will fit their phone and meet their needs. The best thing to do if you are looking to buy a mobile phone battery as a replacement or for backup is to go to the manufacturer’s website. By doing this you will find the correct battery that fits your specific phone. Another pro to doing this is that the batter is made with the correct voltage and will work seamlessly with your phone without putting your phone at risk. Batteries that may fit your phone but don’t have the right voltage will fry your phone circuits and ruin the phone. This can be a very expensive mistake.
Not all second party batteries are bad however. There are many non-proprietary cell phone batteries that are often manufactured in China, Malaysia, Philippines, and Taiwan where they can build the batteries at a much lower cost. This is enticing because these types of batteries can sometimes be half of the cost of the manufacturer’s battery. There are however a few cons to buying these secondary market batteries. Quality is almost unmeasurable. Buying a battery like this is almost a shot in the dark and some people are just not willing to do it. We would suggest getting online and reading customer reviews of the batteries you are interested in purchasing. You will have no idea how the battery will perform until you actually buy it, charge it, and run it down.
As you can see there are a few options out there for you to find that replacement or backup battery. We would highly suggest always going to the manufacturer first and if it’s just too expensive and you can’t afford it then look into secondary batteries. Sometimes the little higher price is worth it in the long run if you don’t have to replace the battery often and if your battery does not fry your cell phone. Happy Hunting!
